Podcasts aren’t just useful for helping you avoid dying of boredom while you wait in a long queue or ride the bus; they’re also great sources of inspiration.

If you’ve ever thought about starting a business, these five rockstar podcasts could give you the drive and the practical knowledge you need to make your entrepreneurial dreams come true.

1. Product People

Product People is exactly what it says on the tin: a podcast about great products and the people who make them.

If you have ever wondered how designers turn ideas into refined and polished products, then Product People is the podcast for you.

The podcast’s focus is on software and web-based products, including mobile apps. Do you see yourself as the next app-trepreneur?

Then tune in to hear from industry experts, such as Andreea Mihalcea, creator of Startup Kit and Brian Casel, author of the Productize course.

2. Giant Robots Smashing into other Giant Robots

Does the title of this podcast sound bizarre to you? That’s to be expected. However, the content of the Giant Robots Smashing into other Giant Robots podcast is incredibly useful for entrepreneurs in the software development industry.

Host Ben Orenstein interviews developers about their careers, their novel ideas and their thoughts on the development of the industry.

Tune in every Monday for fresh thoughts from the world of software development.

3. EntrepreneurOnFire

Can’t wait a whole week to hear the next podcast episode? With EntrepreneurOnFire, you don’t have to.

This podcast goes out every day, featuring interviews with aspiring entrepreneurs, as well as advice from those who have made it.

EntrepreneurOnFire is much broader in scope than the podcasts listed so far, as it features entrepreneurs who are striving to succeed in a variety of industries, from health and fitness to fashion and beauty.

Hear stories of success and failure that you can relate to your own struggle, and take inspiration from the way these entrepreneurs keep on fighting, no matter how much fire is thrown at them.

4. StartUp

StartUp is the perfect podcast if you want to get back to basics. The podcast’s tagline is “a series about what happens when someone who knows nothing about business starts one.”

Each episode features some interesting and amusing tales, but, most importantly, StartUp can help you avoid making the same mistakes as the host of the show.

That host is Alex Blumberg, co-founder of the popular Planet Money series, who launched StartUp to document his own journey from public radio producer to business mogul. It’s an entertaining story, with lots of lessons for listeners.

5. Rocketship.fm

Rocketship.fm is your weekly dose of entrepreneurial savvy, delivered by a team of three smart business people: co-founders of HookFeed, Joelle Seiniger and Matt Goldman; and Michael Sacca, who founded the marketing platform Ratio.

Each episode of Rocketship.fm features an interview with a different entrepreneur. Previous guests have included Brian Balfour from HubSpot, Zach Holman from GitHub and Gabriel Weinberg from the anonymous search engine Duck Duck Go.

Each entrepreneur speaks on a different business topic, from growing your startup to effective blogging strategies.

Whether you want to learn about sales, pricing, problem solving or time management, you’re sure to find a relevant episode in the Rocketship.fm archive.
